Love is varied from person to person. It means many different things
But usually it averages out to be the same.

In my point of view

When you love someone you don't love them because they are the prettiest girl in class. Or the skinniest. Or the Smartest.
When you love someone you don't love them because they are the most popular guy. Or the funniest. Or the most athletic.
Its loving the person because they have a good interior.

Love means holding that special boy/girl in your arms as tightly as you can not just to comfort them but to comfort yourself; going against your own set of rules or against your religion to make them happy; knowing that you can depend on them night or day, rain or shine; knowing they will do anything for you, even though it may take time for them to do it, they always will; having someone you can tell everything to; Not just being your lover, being your best friend; Kissing the person and being able to wipe all the pain and anguish away; seeing that person cry makes you cry; seeing a smile upon their face can make one appear on yours; Love is hearing their voice and knowing everything will be okay; knowing that if you need them they will be right there; no matter how much you fuck-up they will still love you;  not leaving them when they need you most, or when things get 'stressful'; Love is not having a relationship based on sex; Love is.... risking your life for theirs; Risking their life for yours;  

That above. Is love.
It can last for years
It can last for but a day
Or anything in between
